Hey strangers - been a while since posting a nice "what's up with Mateo update" so here we go!

life here behind the orange curtain is going really really well. i've been in a very good mood lately. i'm guessing it is because i haven't been spending much time behind the orange curtain. so many fun road trips and short adventures have made the last few months great. i might also be in a good mood because i know that in the next month i will be moving out of here. as happy as i am about this i'm also nervous as hell and sad that i'll be leaving a lot of the people i love. especially as i am going to be moving to a completely new place with no real goal, reason to be there or set plans. but that is what makes it so fun - uncertianty! i will miss y'all, but it isn't like i'll be leaving forever... (probably...)

last weekend i made what is (probably) my last vegas weekend trip with the proudfoot for mother's day (yeah, my family is cool like that). we left OC at 2 and hit minimal traffic which allowed us (especially with dan's car's ability to travel over 70 for extended periods of time) to make it at around 6ish. scored a great dinner with the folks, one of their friends and my uncle and his wife from scotland. they're visiting the states for the first time and they're taking an AMAZING trip across the US. vegas was the closest they'd be to me, so combine that with mother's day i had to be there. night 1: i hit up the strip by myself (someone who won't be named crashed early). drank quite a bit walked up and down and just enjoyed myself. day 1: did the typical tropicana buffet (no bird show) chilled by the pool waiting for the 'rents to get back from the hoover dam. night 2: met up with the parents while dan played poker - dinner at Treasure Island Coffee Shop (fugging GOOD) and then saw mystre'. TI's new logo is so crappy. they're trying to be all hip and modern and it just doesn't achieve that. i'll admit it is an improvement from the skull and crossbones (although cool, it was getting old and tacky) caught back up with dan and we (eventually) hit the town...HARD. I finally went clubbing (like real clubbing) at studio 54 - it was okay, i had a great time, but in the grand scheme of clubbing, not all that great. I almost didn't get in b/c of my clothes, but the dude let me in in the end. Had i been sober i could have probably been able to talk my way in, but in the state i was in, damn, i was lucky. Didn't get to bed until 7:00ish checked out a few hours later. Day 2: hit up the peppermill vegas. for those of you who have been to peppermill reno, the vegas one is just a restaraunt, but it is EXACTLY like the peppermill coffeeshop - the fonts, the colors, the decor, everything. Dicked around vegas for a while then eventually headed back to the oc.

good times.

oh, for my dream - pretty much i was having a job interview for something related to chemistry. it was a bad dream because the interview went badly. this isn't that bad i guess, but i LOVE interviews. one of my biggest fears is not being able to do something i really take for granted (interviews being one of these things). the weirdest part of the dream is they asked me to talk about the general structure of a hormone and i was able to do it...geez, i'm a dork...
