good god this town has all of my dream jobs just screaming out for me to work here and live here and stay here...well...kind of...the question is "do i want a full time job and a part time job as well? - 60 hours/week couldn't be *that* bad, right?"
anyways, i've left the scaffolding company and moved onto my newest temp position - data entry at the scottish braille press (oh yes, good usage of the university degree...i know). i'm making the same money, there is a lot less stress (no one yells at you that they need their data entered NOW - unlike scaffolders), but...well...it is data entry. Suprisingly the time goes by fast and it isn't nearly as horrible as you'd think. I just put my headphones on and rock out until my fingers ache and my nerves sparkle with pain. also, on fridays i get out at 12:45, so it really isn't that bad. i turned in my application to work at the museum of scotland on friday, but i'm worried about the fact that...ya know...i'm not scottish, but otherwise i think i qualify pretty well.
i bought a basketball last week and i've balled it up 3 times so far. i've got to watch the weather report every day and go to the one court i know of in this town. then i go to play, but usually i play alone...no one in this country plays bball. it is sad. it feels good to get out and toss the ball up. my booze intake has been extremely...um...large, so getting moving around is great. today i played squash with my cousin's boyfriend. imagine raquetball but with a tiny ball that doesn't bounce well, and a slightly wider court. good fun, but a totally new sport, so even though i'm used to raquet sports, the learning curve was a bit rough. i'm looking for some folks to play soccer with, just gotta find a league, or somewhere that they play pickup...
found a cool bar...an interesting mix of trendy and slummy that i dig. kind of like hipster feel with a foosball table and chill out places up stairs. definately not my typical ish, but every time i've been i've met a group of people and made some friends (well, ya know, possible friends - but it is a start). apparently the university kids should be moving back in a week or so...hopefully there will be more folks my age...i'm applying for two jobs at the local uni - one will be lame...especially as i'd be super over qualified for it, but a cool resume booster (kindof) - the other i'm not qualified for, but would be an AMAZING opportunity (think sildawg's job last year, but pharmacologylab)
