Skank-o-matic mateo was out in force last week. I went to my first show in Scotland to see a ska cover band. They did two sets, one of Madness songs (who I’m a fan of, but don’t really know that well) and one of Specials (yay!) songs. This venue (like way too many buildings in this country) was super old and this oldness never stops scaring me. It just seems that it could all come tumbling down at any moment. Made worse is the fact that these are all made of huge stones and brick, if it were to all come crashing down you would be squashed like a bug. The cover band was great – a full 9 piece band on a tiny stage about 1.5 times bigger than chain’s stage. Lots of energy, cute lead singer, excellent happy crowd and (of course) booze a plenty. Actually the bartender ended up giving me wrong change, so I got several extra drinks. Yay!
