Aaaah, my first visitor from the states has come and gone in a whirlwind trip. It was good to have a good friend around constantly just to chat and bullshit with without having to make a big effort of meeting up with people. The manekpanic has been given the ammo to get me back to the states – does she know what it is? Spread the gospel girl, you can get me home!
New word of the moment:
…to tigerheat… (v.)
To not receive services when said services are expected.
ie. “The bartender has totally been tigerheating me the whole night, helping other people before me, even though I was here first” (also the origin of said verb)
I just got back from working a shift at the Forest Café. It is this amazing café/public space/art gallery/community center that is run entirely by volunteers (yes, this kind of means I am working 3 different jobs, but when you only get real satisfaction from 2, you need something to replace the dreariness of being stuck in front of the computer all day). My second day involved a crazy three hour period of non-stop work, a creepy and crazy old man, numerous minor fuck-ups on my part, a brilliant mechanical fix-it by yours truly, and numerous coffees prepared. Good times, I’ve forgotten about how much I like that sort of job, but at the same time it does leave something to be desired. Sigh, the larc job was a great mix of the two – being on your feet for some of the day interacting with people and the rest of the day at a computer…what a job… I think I’ve been fortunate with all the jobs I have had in my life. Nothing has been too terrible, Pfizer being the worst (and although it was bad, I did get everything I wanted out of it), the barn and the video store probably being the best. Anything career worthy? I'm not sure yet...
DECISIONS DECISIONS...
