eeeeeee

in response to shannon's recent blog
things that have been making me happy:
(because sometimes you've just gotta remember why you like to keep breathing)

tall people (okay, person)
you know who you are. okay, no you don't because you don't really read (or know about) this blog, but my mood has certianly been considerably better since last weekend. mmm. 6ft + some inches + good looks = good times. word.

building works - watch this space
i've been doing loads of diy at forest lately. yesterday i laid concrete and did some plastering. add to that the wall i've helped build and i'm almost ready for a tool belt (ooooh). this makes me happy because (1) it keeps my mind off the fact that i'm useless to society being unemployed and (2) it makes my testosterone feel useful. grrrrr - manly things.

improved british english
i've recently discovered that several of my britishisms and slang are...well...completely wrong.
slag does not mean slacker
bugger is NOT a funny and goofy word
there's one more, but i can't quite remember what it is...

semiprofessional hooking
the crochet bug bit me sometime last week and i've been a regular grandma lately. okay, i guess the extra testosterone used with my diy ish has to be balanced out somehow. after a several month drought (minus one hungarian wool hat) i've pumped out a few hats and a few half scarfs as well (need some more colors to finish the job). good stuff.

10 pounds and a bottle of wine
my softball team - yes, i've joined a softball team - had our league's annual quiz night last night. our team totally rocked and probably should have won save for the fact that the winning team happened to be the same team that the lady running the night was on. laaaaame. whatever. we got 2nd place - 10 pounds and a bottle of wine. also, i figured out not to let my british teammates question my america trivia (regardless of how much time they said they've spent in certain states).

my 3 favorite questions - answer them and get some mateo points:

1. what US state has the capital augusta? (5 pts)
2. what 3 south american countries have the equator pass through? (5 pts)

and

3. without looking - how many rows of stars are on the american flag? explain a way to figure this out semi-mathmatically and i'll give you 10 points...otherwise nothing!
