football today. usually my monday evening is punctuated by an evening game of five a side pick up football (read: soccer). i love this weekly ritual, and it always gives me something to look forward to. i'd really like to join a proper league, but the comittment scares me a bit, that and the prospect of being on an *actual* team. over the past few weeks this chick (quickly - ladies, do you find that word offensive? - i see it in the same ballpark as dude, but i'm never sure) has come along. usually there are 2 or 3 girls (and when i started coming last year there were about 6-7 regulars) and they're great to play with, good ball skills, good hustle, generally there to play. this girl doesn't (can't?) run, stays in the top right corner, whines/yells for us to pass the ball to her (especially when she is anything but open). this is especially irritating when we are short players (4-a-side) because you really need everyone to be mobile and shifting places since there isn't enough people to play in set places. this is what i experienced this week. now my knee is aching from more-than-normal running to replace this black hole on the pitch. grrr.
she is a football fan (celtic), not a football player. she is the batteries that are not included, she is [er] darkwing duck?
