changes about.
so i quit my job. no more hippies. no more holier than thou lefties. no more no-wheat/dairy/nuts/etc dietary non-required requirements.
i'm now managing (well, one of the managers at) a cafe/bar down the street from the forest. it is great. it is very well run, and i'm stepping into something i can contribute to but also learn from (much like the forest was a few months ago - well, minus the well run bit). i've already earned the nickname 'whore' because as an american we know how to do service, and i do it well and i earn the tips better than many (he works hard for the money, so hard for the money, so you better treat him right) who've been there for a while. each time i step back into the forest i know i've made the right decision leaving that place. i'm hoping that i'll like it much more now that i'm away from it. seriously, i love the people there, but enough is enough.
boxwars has taken a life of its own. no, that is a lie, we're up all over that shit, but it is getting huge. we've been covered in a full page spread by the scottish events guide 'the list', made page 3 in the edinburgh evening news (2 huge photos) and listed in the skinny (another events guide). on saturday boxwars three was an amazing success. we recruited a metal band to play while the nearly 30-some-odd-box battle ensued. some band related technical difficulties (broken bass) moments before the melee began gave ryan (our announcer) the opportunity to interview some boxes - something i think i'd like to continue through the next few boxwars. we're probably gonna have to move to bigger digs next time and it seems like we'll be upgrading this from the monthly/bi-monthly one-off to a gig and club night. sixthman might have another chance to make people shake their ass.
