down south at the moment. brighton is the SF of the island - brilliant people, brilliant atmosphere, not quite divey enough (probably courtsey of the semiposh southerners). hannah took me to free party in the woods. good times, memories of rumblerave 2001 (2?). a small wooden glen surrounded by wheat fields and newly made drug addled friends. some semi-decent tech/tribal trance actually a decent party. forgot how much fun partying outside of a club setting can be (the last few outdoor parties have been semi/complete disasters)...moreover, (re)realized how often partying in a club does suck. there is also the cool and punkrock factor of people putting on a clandestine free party strictly for the enjoyment of the trancehead punters. managed to miss the police breaking up the gig as hannah and co. were watching the sunrise in one of the fields. soon after i tried to go hay bale rolling on 6ft tall hay rolls. quickly discovered said action is harder than believed, especially after being disovered by police after leaving the party site.

no sleep for the wicked, instead treated myself to several cups of shite coffee, the sunday paper and a stomach wrenching veggo breakky. haven't pulled an all nighter since postering for boxwars (4? 5?) with demian. this time around twas much less harrowing as there were no major(ish) health concerns.

caught RBF, big hand and a band called jessejames in london on the way to brighton. makes me happy to see that the scotsman review is true, big hand recieved the best welcome that they'll see in a while courtsey of boxwars. this isn't to say that they weren't good or anything, but they were a bit naff. i dunno, i think their trumpet player has cooled down his scottish madness for the londoners or something. seemingly less stage presence than i remember. could be the large(r) stage, i'd imagine they ought to be used to that by now though. spoke with some of the band afterwards and was reminded of shannon/meera's swiftkick hatred.

remember. love music. hate bands.

jesse james have potential. 7 piece rock n rollers with the occational skaish horns. nothing special, but they were notable for 6 person harmonizing. i've never seen anything like it, and amazingly, it worked really well. if the rest of their act was as good as that aspect they'd be amazing. also good uniforms as well as cute boy or two made them not entirely boring. again, definate potential, could use some more complex songs and lyrics, i'd see them again in a year or two to see if they've progressed.

RBF. well, let's be honest, they're getting on a bit, yet, they're still rocking. i know i've quoted SLC punk before but 'blah blah we do it harder, blah blah, with more love blah blah' (look it up on imdb). perhaps i need to go to a hardcore gig to really see the hardness and love or something. the anger has been bubbling up lately, so i probably need that sort of release. anyways, RBF was well solid. a bit sameish since the last time i saw them. hopefully a new album is coming outside of the live one they're releasing shortly. because their songs are so well known it was very dashboard unplugged sing-along with rbf styley. dunno what more to say, lots of annoying fanboys, tragic attempts at starting a pit, a weird punker maybe hitting on me, maybe not, good times all around.

said goodbye to kyle before leaving for england, he's moving to mull for a livein pub job before moving to oz. love how getting a drink often turns into uncountable drinkorama. will miss the bloke. was dragged to ccblooms by his truely. annoying and weird as straight boyo 'had' to go. i hate that place. was a bit fun to show a similar minded person the horror of queer normality. got home at 4:30 and had to catch my london bus at 6:30. this was painful. but i made it. barely. didn't even puke on the bus. barely.

yes.
