because i'm dyslexic or something i've been giving out the wrong phone number to EVERYONE.

shit.

4945900 not 5954900

stupid stupid.

okay, so i've pretty much told everyone that i'm back in the states now (except you laura! suprise!) i've been back for about a month now and it fucking sucks here. no, don't get me wrong. i LOVE being back. i LOVE seeing eric and andy and meera and andrea and luis and richie and everyone else, and my job is AMAZING, teaching is so fun, also, i'm studying again which makes my brain happier than it has been in ages oh, and it is really sunny here. almost always and no sunburn yet. but seriously, how the hell didn't i notice how weird it is here? i spent 5 years in inferior california (thanks for the moniker mr solis) and i never noticed. i can't imagine what the english girls must have gone through when they arrived. i complain, but i am quite happy here - i think a good portion of that is the sun. having a *plan* and something to work towards has settled my mind too. probably being completely out of the closet and more confident in my bad self helps a ton too.

rancid was the other day and they were incredible. possibly the best show i've ever been to? maybe? who knows? opening with 'Journey to the end of East Bay' and not stopping to take a breath for 5-6 songs. amazing. they are all looking a bit rough around the edges, but can still rock like no other. also, they concentrated on their older stuff (the joy of being on a non-new album promotional tour) and did loads of opivy covers (?) as well. i was so glad that the dan preminition of a shitty gig did not come true as it did for millencolin (who sucked - royally).

opening band was some non-distillers girl fronted band. had 2 amazing songs. definately radioworthy. i can see them releasing an album and then evaporating into the ether of the music business.

opening opeening band were a mediocre euro-mytrowsers-are-too-tight-indie band. nothing exciting there. should have deffo not been opening for rancid, even if they had been good (which they weren't) the music just didn't match the feel of the night.

let's talk about downtown disney. i want to destroy. okay let's not, but i'm tempted to break shit just to get the damn place moved. i really don't get it. HOB has the booking power to put itself anywhere and make a go of it. i suppose the restaraunt side of things has something to do with it, but nevertheless, despite having amazing sound and the layout is quite good for a show (not too big, not too small) it just seems evil seeing rancid play in the heart of mouseland.

ramble ramble
