life got stupid lately.

a few weeks ago i came to the realization that i'm only at my current job for another 4 months or so and then i've got to work out where i'll be going and what i'll be doing. i had a pretty great plan and was mostly sorted except for the whole 'not having a job thing'. i can deal with unemployment, so no big deal, yeah? well, kind of. i've discovered that i need to take more classes than i originally thought in order to qualify for medical school, and UCI being UCI, this isn't easy for someone in my position. crap. it looks like i'll be able to finish by the end of the summer, but maybe not. annoying.

it's been a while.

rave last weekend. went with 5 newbies out to the desert. didn't realize the entire crew had never been to the dance. this had potential to be a disaster, but somehow everything worked itself out. nothing quite like following directions that read as follows, "reset your odomoter and travel 6.3 miles. look for an unmarked dirt road..." somehow we all made it and (mostly) had fun. it was a psytrance party which, me hating trance, got real old real quick, but a good party is a good party, so fun times were had. fire dancers, huge bonfire and gigantic speakers, good to be back. i kept thinking i was going to run into a forester - it was almost as though planet monkey had been transplanted from scotland to the desert.

march madness

meera and I went to watch UCI put up a good fight in the second round of the big west tourney. UCI played really well. well enough in fact, to get both of our hopes up for the rest of the tournament. silly mat, silly meera, haven't you learned that this team will betray you at every possible moment? the eaters easily took the game, played some beautiful ball and walked away pretty easily. next day we couldn't make it to UCI's loss in anaheim because the irvine fever was playing a reunion gig and you never know when you'll get to see the silman rocking out. meera, andrea and i picked up a pizza, some beers and drove to the top of the parking structure to eat, drink and listen to kuci's bball broadcast while waiting for the fever to start. it seems as though the 'fun alarm' was tripped as within 30 minutes the CSOs and police were alerted. breaking up our fun and forcing us away from the radio forced meera and i to get updates from mikey... ugh. only thing worse than losing is getting that loss updated every 3 minutes or so via short blurbs.
