after dropping off my absentee ballot while i was waiting for meera a 70+year old peace officer (sheriff/police/???/whatever, he was armed) walked up to me and asked 'where's the voting place?' Maybe i'm ageist, or maybe guns freak the hell out of me, or maybe combining my ageism and my anti-gun sentiment made my subconsious do some backflips. seriously though, where's the polling place?! It isn't like there were 3 HUGE signs: 'Registrar of Voters' and 'Election night workers' and 'Polling Place' each with their respective arrow pointing in exactly the same place. you give this guy a gun? much less a car to drive to work to? c'mon.

after the fear came in the form of a septarian meera took me to the 'no on 85' OC election night party. good times. met a real life OC Weekly staffer, a real life 17-year-old (they're scary and uber self absorbed, the myspace generation is devolving back to the me generation. i think the whole user generated content thing really gives them an annoying amount of self confidence), and a load of politico feminists. free beer and snacky snacks all in the confines of an insanely OC palacial non-mcmansion.

look at this, headlines from the various broadcasting websites,

MSNBC: Bush says Rumsfeld stepping down
CNN: Rumsfeld quitting as defense secretary
FOX: Donald Rumsfeld Resigning as Defense Secretary

BBC: Rumsfeld replaced after poll loss

interesting?
