why yes, i would like some meatheads with my punk rock, thank you

Bouncing Souls // Street Dogs // Whole Wheat Bread

who knew downtown disney was such a mega destination on a saturday? the insane mass of humanity seperating me from the parking lot (i borrowed marcus' minivan because i was in a rush oddly, I actually wanted to be on time and catch the first band). this made the insanity of the mousehouse that much more frustrating. seriously though, do this many people come to downtown disney as a legitimate 'place to go'. i can slightly understand places like the spectrum as a weekend thing to do (ya know, if you're a yuppie, or 15, or a yuppie into 15 year olds), but downtown disney? seriously? when you think a plateau of crapitutde has been reached with spectrum/insert shopertainment complex here/block, but you know you can always count on Walt to do it better.

saying that, i was one of the horde and was making the traffic that much worse.

i didn't *really* want to see bouncing souls and i didn't *really* want to see whole wheat bread, but together on a ticket, certianly worth my cash. as WWB was opening, i was in a rush and the traffic was not calming my already anti-disney mood. being alone probably didn't help either. after circling a large portion of the anaheim area looking for decent parking broke down and followed the masses into the parking lot/garage complex. ugh. idiots abound. eventually parked and booked it inside. somehow, for some reason, the punker gods were smiling at me. i walked in, chugged an overpriced newcastle and whole wheat bread took the stage.

i didn't think i'd get a chance to see these guys because i found out about them when i was over in scotland. they're a three piece punk/hardcore/hiphop hybrid. very interesting sound. deffo a crossover worth experimenting and hearing. i think they're good, but not great. really need a much better singer to pull the band together for live shows. the studio voice they've got is excellent, but he just couldn't quite pull the sound together live. also, there is nothing quite like seeing an audience of punkers bump to a hip hop song. if they grab another singer they could become the shit, but until then they'll lull around as a novelty act (both for the fact that they're all black dudes crossing over to one of the lily whitest genres ever - the vanilla ice effect - [thank you bad brains] - and that the crossover is quite novel itself).
